Detecting computer-generated disinformation

چکیده
Abstract Modern neural language models can be used by malicious actors to automatically produce textual content looking as it has been written genuine human users. Due progress in the controllability of computer-generated text, there is a risk that state-sponsored may start using such methods for conducting large-scale information operations. Various detection algorithms have suggested research literature identify texts produced model-based generators, but these are often mainly evaluated on test data from same distribution they trained on. We evaluate promising Transformer-based large variety experiments involving both in-distribution and out-of-distribution data, well evaluation more realistic in-the-wild data. It shown generalizability detectors questioned, especially when applied short social media posts. Moreover, best performing (RoBERTa-based) detector non-robust also basic adversarial attacks, illustrating how easy avoid current state-of-the-art algorithms.

Detecting photographic and computer generated composites
Nowadays, sophisticated computer graphics editors lead to a significant increase in the photorealism of images. Thus, computer generated (CG) images result to be convincing and hard to be distinguished from real ones at a first glance. Here, we propose an image forensics technique able to automatically detect local forgeries, i.e., objects generated via computer graphics software inserted in na...

متن کاملNonlinear computer-generated holograms.
We propose a novel technique for arbitrary wavefront shaping in quadratic nonlinear crystals by introducing the concept of computer-generated holograms (CGHs) into the nonlinear optical regime. We demonstrate the method experimentally showing a conversion of a fundamental Gaussian beam pump light into the first three Hermite-Gaussian beams at the second harmonic in a stoichiometric lithium tant...
متن کاملComputer-Generated Photorealistic Hair
This paper presents an efficient method for generating and rendering photorealistic hair in two dimensional pictures. The method consists of three major steps. Simulating an artist drawing is used to design the rough hair shape. A convolution based filter is then used to generate photorealistic hair patches. A refine procedure is finally used to blend the boundaries of the patches with surround...
متن کاملComputer-Generated Music
While music transcends its time, it eagerly adopts the current technology. Musicians, like anyone else, use new instruments and procedures to reach their desired goals. In the age of computers, this is producing some fascinating results. C omputer music has existed as a formal application of computer science for at least 35 years. The idea has existed much longer. Ada Lovelace suggested the use...
